Tara lives in a double-story house in modern-day Virginia Beach. Sally lived in the same house back in 1974. Both of them notice strange sightings, brief but non-threatening glimpses of a teen girl, whom the families affectionally come to know as their family ghosts.
Both girls head in opposite directions on the staircase and in the middle undergo strange experiences involving their 'ghosts,' after which they notice puzzling changes to the house. Tara notices how everything looks old-fashioned and Sally notices strange and unknown things she's never seen before.
Both girls realize they've changed to different times. With the help of Tara's new nerdy friend from the past, Josh, they investigate what happened and how to reverse this calamity which changes the lives of more than just Sally and Tara.
Can they make the change to return to their own times? And if they do, how could it change their lives and the lives of those they met?
